You don’t want to be without a gift for someone, but you also don’t want to give a tacky gift. Here are some appropriate gifts you can find at convenience stores and drugstores.

Wine

Many convenience stores carry wine and even champagne. If you are headed to a holiday party, pick up a bottle on your way, slap on a bow and you’ll be good to go. Just don’t pick out the cheapest bottle they have on the shelf.

Beauty products

Give her a pampering gift by picking up body scrubs, lotions, loofahs and other beauty products at your local drugstore. You can pack the products in a wicker basket or decorative box, and you’ll have an appropriate gift that won’t cost more than ten bucks.

Amazon gift cards

Believe it or not, Amazon.com gift cards are available in $15, $25, $50 and $100 denominations at grocery, drug and convenience stores across the country, including 7 Eleven, CVS Pharmacy and Walgreen’s. So if you are on your way to Christmas dinner and forgot a gift for the host, stop at the convenience store and get an Amazon gift card.

If you are stuck between giving something inappropriate or not giving anything at all — skip the gift. Tacky presents will just be put on a shelf somewhere or tossed out. Everyone forgets a gift now and then, so you’ll surely be forgiven for forgetting someone on your holiday gift list.
