The four C’s

“The four C’s are color, cut, clarity and carat weight. The clarity and color represent the actual visual appearance of the center stone or diamonds, whereas the cut is more how the diamond has been shaped to reflect light back to you. The carat weight is a measurement we use to weigh a diamond and in turn price a diamond according to the carat weight.

Celebrity ring trends

“One of the trends that’s been here for a long time and is probably here to stay is the vintage trend. We see a lot of filigree work, a lot of grain, giving us the flavor of the ’60s and ’70s. Colored stones are also popular. We don’t see it too often, but when we see a celebrity or someone famous with one, we see a big call for them. Kate Middleton with her sapphire was a big trend that kind of erupted in the United States. And Halle Berry with emerald, which happens to be this year’s Pantone color.”

Other fun diamond facts

Most men bring their lady along to choose the ring.

“Maybe 20 percent of men come in completely by themselves, but most men do come with their significant other. It’s probably going to be the biggest purchase on one single item. Being so small and valuable, he wants to make sure that it’s done right the first time.”

Most men put about two paychecks toward a ring.

“Some men decide to extend it to three paychecks depending on her desires, but a very great rule of thumb would be a two month salary.”

Every diamond is unique.

“There are never two diamonds that are alike, just like there are no two women that are alike. Each diamond has its own personality and you might have to compromise some places and gain in other places to find the perfect match for you.”
