The beauty of Blue Copper: Osmotics skin care (Review)

With the active ingredient of blue copper, Blue Copper 5 from Osmotics is a line of luxurious, blue-tinted goodies. The products are so blue that they remind me of the Florida Keys or a Caribbean island. In fact, the line has so many varieties of blue, it’s impossible to stop staring at it.

An overview

Francine Porter started Osmotics in 1993 to develop cutting-edge products for skin and hair and to give consumers something that was far removed from hype and marketing. In this sense, the brand is different than your average high-end skin care line. Osmotics works with leading university medical centers, world-renowned scientists and the brand’s own advisory panel to look at and incorporate the latest breakthroughs in science.

The brand is committed to using only the highest quality ingredients. Therefore, when I read an Osmotics label, I don’t find any fragrances or artificial ingredients on it. The brand also has a four-step system recommended for those just starting out using its products.

Star products

The Blue Copper 5 Anti-Aging Cleansing Gelee ($30) is a cooling cleansing gel that is ideal for all skin types. It promises to leave the skin clean and free of impurities and full of moisture. The cleanser is easy to apply and clears your face of makeup and impurities almost immediately — just splash on some cool water and you’ll feel clean, not taut. The key ingredient for me is aloe vera and its immediate soothing benefit, which is great after a day in the sun. Since it’s sulfate free, the gentle lather is all natural.

The Blue Copper 5 Firming Elasticity Repair ($85) is an evening cream that’s definitely bluer than blue. Of course, that doesn’t mean your face ends up resembling a Smurf. It uses advanced copper technology to promote firmer skin, and I am a diehard fan. With age-fighting pentapeptides, this treatment truly does reduce the appearance of pores and wrinkles.

Blue Copper 5 Face Lifting Serum ($75) gives a rush of moisture to your skin, making it a standout from other serums on store shelves. It is marketed as a daytime treatment that tones and tightens, and it contains copper peptides, shiitake mushroom extract and sweet almond protein. It is lightweight and formulated to help prevent skin from thinning and sagging.

Blue Copper 5 Age Repair Body Lift ($95) is my favorite product in the line, simply because it works wonders. After having recently had a baby, my body needs more TLC now than ever — and this truly does give your skin a proper lift. The handy jar is filled with a thick cream that has the texture of a light hair pomade, but it glides easily and massages well onto the skin. It addresses crepiness, helps improve skin texture and contains plant extracts specifically targeted for the body.

The latest and greatest product from the brand is the 7 Night Molecular Repair Treatment ($98). It promises to soothe the skin and give you a healthy glow and radiant texture. It has the active copper ingredient that triggers the natural repair process of the skin, and it also reduces redness and irritation from sun exposure and surgery. I have to say that this is one of the best treatments I’ve ever tried when it comes to intensive therapy. In a week, my skin became clearer (fewer zits, imagine that?), wrinkles diminished, and my skin tone had increased clarity. It has a fantastic moisturizing component to it, so those suffering from dry skin due to winter may want to give this one a whirl.
