Beauty Review: Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk for perfect curls

Curly girl and founder of Carol’s Daughter, Lisa Price has always battled unruly frizz, and she created the new Hair Milk line to give that battle a break.

Got curls? Get milk!

See why we’re in love with the four products in this collection.

Lisa Price came out with Hair Milk: the Original Curl Definer many moons ago. The purpose of this hydrating lotion was to define, tame and restore a natural luster to curls.

Now Hair Milk has increased the size of its family… to several products. This is the ultimate regimen for curly-haired girls, and the best way to get acquainted with these pudding-like treats is to go with the four piece Starter Kit ($24) which contains:

  • Hair Milk Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner: This is a no-foam conditioner that is really a “conditioning wash” (hence the name ‘Co-Wash). It is extremely gentle, safe to use almost on a baby, and it cleanses and detangles your head of curls.
  • Hair Milk Original Leave-In Moisturizer: This product is meant to add shine to your hair and resembles the texture of thick, almost creamy milk. It’s a delicious bath experience to add to your routine.
  • Hair Milk Lite Leave-In Moisturizer: This is a lite option of the above and is good for those pesky humid summer days.
  • Hair Milk Pudding Style. Define. Hold. This pudding-like styler is great for definition and is a good way to get a defined hairstyle and a truly delicious smell. Use your fingers to style those twists and Bantu knots and any other special recipe you have in mind, and use a blow dryer as usual.

Now, Ms. Price started her labor of love in the kitchen, making beauty treats from scratch and with natural ingredients. Her love of “beauty cooking” translates so well into these products and these “poly-ethnic” products not only work on women of color but across the board.

The bottom line:

This line works really well if you have dry or parched hair. And for curly hair types that need extra moisture, these adorably packaged milk bottle-style products are really just the ticket. Sure, there are other curly hair products floating around, but few work as effectively and smell as good as these guys. You’ll get a beautiful and moisturized set of tresses and feel like you just took a trip to mom’s kitchen: What could be better?

You can purchase the Hair Milk Pudding Style as a separate larger size for $22, the Lite Leave-in Moisturizer for $20 and Light Moisture Curl Set for $54 among others.
