ways to go green

These picks not only do wonders for your beauty regimen, but also give back to eco-friendly causes around the world.

The green lifestyle has been implemented into our homes, transportation and now even our beauty products. In honor of Earth Day, we’re listing some eco-friendly beauty companies who are helping to create change in our environment.

Everyday Minerals

With fur-free brushes and bold, attention-grabbing shadows and lip colors, the Texas-based company’s mineral products are both striking and green. All products like their Semi Matte Base and Love Birds lipstick are vegan, eco-friendly, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

As a bonus, 10 percent of all Everyday Minerals sales go toward the conservation of Austin Hill Country for Wilderness Preservation, an ongoing effort to preserve farming, eco-living and the raising of eco-friendly native animals to the Austin area.

Everyday Minerals has currently rescued 28 acres of land, and the company has an ultimate goal of rescuing 1,000 acres under Wilderness Protection by 2025.

Juice Beauty

Juice Beauty, a company that prides itself on organic beauty, is taking Earth Day to heart and will donate 5 percent of the sales from featured products during the month of April to The Organic Center, an organization dedicated to evidence-based research on health and environmental benefits of organic food and farming.

One of the featured products is the USDA Organic Treatment Oil, a hydrating and revitalizing treatment for all skin types to help deeply moisturize and eliminate any dry spots. The USDA Organic Lip Moisturizer, which combines shea and cocoa butter with organic orange and vanilla for soft, healthy lips, is another featured product.

Like all Juice Beauty products, these start with an organic, antioxidant rich juice base rather than water found in most makeup formulas. The brand uses ingredients purchased from USDA certified organic farmers and strives to be eco-friendly in all aspects, utilizing recycled and recyclable packaging, printing with soy ink and manufacturing with solar power.

Lina Hanson

Created by makeup artist Lina Hanson, the namesake brand aims to bring all-natural skin care with ingredients from global resources like Morocco, South Africa, India, Tunisia, Japan and Peru to women of all skin types and conditions.

Her top selling 100 percent natural Global Face Serum from her Beauty Around the World line is said to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and inflammation and skin irritation without harsh, artificial chemicals.

The brand uses sustainably harvested ingredients worldwide and makes an effort to give back to charitable organizations, including the International Rescue Committee, an organization that offers lifesaving care and assistance to refugees fleeing from war or disaster.

A Lot To Say

A Lot To Say, a conscious lifestyle brand, is taking its own steps to reduce the damage of plastic bags and bottles that pile up in our landfills and wash up on our beaches and waterways. Through a little creativity, they’ve managed to turn plastic bottles into fashionably reusable products like T-shirts, yoga gear, bikinis and reusable tote bags.

All the products are made from 100 percent post-consumer plastic bottles. Over 60 plastic bottles are used in one T-shirt alone!

The company also gives back by donating a portion of all proceeds to several of their philanthropic partners including: Global Green, Heal the Bay, The International Green Energy Council, Animal Rescue Foundation and Stand Up To Cancer.
